Mission Statement

City Relief exists to create connections for the hurting and homeless to resources and hope.

About

City Relief uses mobile resource centers to assist people dealing with poverty and homelessness. These outreaches happen eight times a week in different areas of New York City and New Jersey. As a volunteer you’ll serve meals, distribute hygiene kits and socks, have conversations with our guests, help them feel safe and comfortable, treat them with dignity and compassion, and invite them to talk with one of our City Relief team members who will connect them to life changing resources and a community of care.

Our volunteers play an integral part in how we show up and how our guests experience us. When our guests arrive, it’s many times our volunteers who make the first connection with a kind word or smile. It is the welcoming presence of volunteers that often determines if someone feels safe enough to get help that can significantly change the course of their lives for the better.

Many of our volunteers said they came to our outreaches to make an impact on someone’s life and found the biggest impact was made on them. Come join us and see how special volunteering can be!

Notes: Before serving, Volunteers will be asked to complete a waiver and photo release form upon check-in at the outreach. Please note that Volunteers must be 16 years or older to participate. Minors aged 16 and 17 will need to have a guardian's permission to participate in outreach, which is to be completed at the time of event registration.
